Women’s Soccer Topped by Letourneau on Saturday

Majors Drop Matchup, 8-0 against YellowJackets

JACKSON, Miss. — The Millsaps College women's soccer team fell to LeTourneau University, 8-0 on Saturday at Harper Davis Field.

The Majors finished with four shots, including one on goal, while facing 26 shots and 13 on goal.

Millsaps faced LeTourneau shot volume throughout the match, with the Yellowjackets finishing with 26 shots and 13 on goal while the Majors recorded four shots and one on frame.

Freshman Olivia Umanzor combined for five saves, and the team got through several LeTourneau shot-and-corner sequences without conceding.

Millsaps fell behind 5-0 in the first half after LeTourneau scored five times in the opening 16:38. The Majors kept the YellowJackets off the board through a later attacking stretch that included five shots and two corner kicks, with Umanzor saving a shot at 28:32.

LeTourneau put Millsaps under pressure in the second half, scoring three times despite four saves from freshman Kayla Borden.

The Majors generated late activity with shots from senior Alex Bremond and freshmen Eden Birch and Hailie Moorer., plus an 87:43 corner kick. The Yellow Jackets added to their lead late in the second half to close out the matchup with an 8-0 triumph over the Majors.

The Majors will be back in action on Wednesday to face MUW starting a 6 p.m. in Columbus, Miss., Live video and live stats will be available at gomajors.com.
