JACKSON, Miss. - The Millsaps College volleyball team improves to 8-2 on the regular season after sweeping the United States Sports University, 3-0 on Friday night inside the Hangar Dome.

Junior Zoë LaCaze tallied seven kills, six service aces, and three block assists for Millsaps. Freshman Khloe Duncan led the team with 10 kills while adding three digs and two block assists. Sophomore Lily Luneau finished with seven kills on 11 attacks. Senior Sandy Bourgeois recorded a team-high nine digs and added three assists.

Entering the matchup against U.S. Sports University, the Majors ranked 37th in the NCAA Division III volleyball rankings with 410 kills and 32nd with 583 digs, while Bourgeois ranked 25th with 167 digs.

The Majors built an early 5-1 lead in the opening set behind kills from Duncan and LaCaze, along with two U.S. Sports University attack errors. After the Eagles pulled within 8-5, Millsaps scored the next 10 points, with Sophomore Kinney Boyle contributing three kills, Luneau adding two, and LaCaze serving three aces during a nine-point service stretch.

The lead reached 20-6 on a junior Abigail Drury ace, and Millsaps moved to set point at 24-11 on a Duncan kill. Duncan added another kill on the ensuing rally to close out the opening set, 25-11, as the Majors maintained their consistent play throughout.

Sophomore Atlee Gonzales served Millsaps through the first nine points of the second set, a run that included three Duncan kills, kills by Bohl, LaCaze, and Luneau, and a service ace for a 9-0 lead.

The U.S. Sports University finally got on the board with a kill, but the Majors continued to pull away. Two more kills from Duncan, along with a Drury kill and another LaCaze finish, pushed the Majors ahead 15-4.

LaCaze added a kill and a service ace during a stretch that pushed the lead to 19-4, and Millsaps stayed in front as Luneau and LaCaze recorded late kills. Sophomore Madelynn Sasser closed the set with a kill from Ware, giving Millsaps a 25-11 win.

Millsaps opened the third set with four straight points, including a Bourgeois ace and a block by LaCaze and Duncan, and later stretched a 4-1 lead to 11-1 behind Bohl's sideout kill, two Ware aces, and a Duncan kill.

After U.S. Sports University moved the score to 12-3, Millsaps put together another six-point run, with LaCaze recording a kill and two aces while Luneau added two kills to make it 18-3. Millsaps pushed the margin to 21-4 on a Rachel Zamjahn ace and Bohl kill, then answered U.S. Sports University's late points with kills from Luneau and Bohl before closing the set 25-10 on an attack error.

The Majors will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 26, to start conference opener at Sewanee beginning at 6 p.m. in Sewanee, Tenn. l. Live stats will be available and the game will streamed via FloCollege.
