De'Andre Washington enters his second season with the Millsaps football coaching staff after arriving in July 2021 as the assistant defensive backs coach.
The Majors combined for seven student-athletes on the All-SAA Team, four SAA Players of the Week, 20 members on the SAA All-Academic Honor Roll and five NFF Hampshire Honor Society inductees in 2021.
Prior to joining Millsaps, Washington played in a semi-professional football league in Baton Rouge, La. from 2015-2020. He helped win the league title his rookie season in 2015 and played several positions during his tenure, including strong safety, nickel and kick return.
Washington attended Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge where he was born and raised. Washington also played prep football as a cornerback and wide receiver from 2009-2013.
This is Washington’s first experience as a coach and he is ecstatic to learn and teach from his experience in his upcoming time at Millsaps. He explains he is ready to lead young men to become great leaders on and off the football field and help them reach their full potential.
"Not everyone has the opportunity to do what they truly love in their lifetime,” Washington said. “While I'm here, I'm going to make the most of it. I'm very blessed and excited to be at Millsaps."
