Ruben Iosefa joined the Millsaps football coaching staff as the defensive coordinator and outside linebacker’s coach in 2020. In fall 2021, his title changed to assistant defensive coordinator, inside linebackers coach and equipment manager.
The Majors combined for 11 student-athletes on the All-SAA Team, 24 members on the SAA All-Academic Honor Roll and four NFF Hampshire Honor Society inductees in the spring 2021 season.
Prior to arriving in Jackson, Iosefa served as the Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) outside linebackers coach and defensive run game coordinator in his first season as a college coach. The Mounties defense finished the season ranked number one in the National Conference Central Division. The Mounties defense also totaled numerous All-Conference honors with two of Iosefa’s linebackers garnering First-Team selections. The defense helped Mt. SAC win the Central Division Conference and advance to the CCCAA SoCal State Playoffs for the first time since 2014.
Iosefa attended Whittier College in 2014 where he played under Millsaps head coach Isaac Carter, during his term as the Defensive Coordinator for the Poets. The Poets defense improved to become a top-three defense in the conference in Carter’s lone season as the defensive coordinator with numerous All-Conference selections and forcing a league second-best 25 turnovers in just nine games.
Coach Iosefa graduated with a degree in Sociology from Whittier College in 2016.
