Nix joined the Millsaps coaching staff ahead of the 2023 season as the defensive line coach and academic coordinator.
He previously coached at Coastal Carolina as the defensive analyst, dating back to August 2021. He primarily assisted the defensive line coach and ran the scout team.
From Jan. 2021 and June 2021, he was a graduate assistant at East Carolina assisting the defensive tackles and defensive ends coaches.
Following both stops he has coached the defensive line, broke down blocking schemes, analyzed protections and mechanics, and helped in game plan creation.
As a coach his teams won the 2022 Birmingham Bowl and 2021 Cure Bowl. He also coached four All-Sun Belt players in Josaiah Stewart, CJ Brewer, Jeffrey Guntar and Jerrod Clark. Stewart lea the conference in sacks in 2021, Brewer was signed by the Buffalo Bills, Guntar was drafted by the Cinncinati Bengals and Clark was a 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl Invitee.
Nix attended Middle Tennessee State and was a three-year letterman. He was the 2020 team captain, helped win the 2017 Camelia Bowl, competed in the 2018 New Orleans Bowl and 2016 Hawaii Bowl.
He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Leisure Sports and Tourism Studies in 2020.
