Tylan Martin was added to the Millsaps football coaching staff for the 2017 season as the wide receivers coach. Martin joins the Majors after spending three years as the wide receivers coach at East Central Community College (ECCC) in Mississippi.
While at ECCC, Martin coached 2015 first team all-state and first team all-region receiver Kabion Ento, who signed with the University of Colorado. He also coached wide receiver Henry Murphy, who signed with Virginia Tech and Devin McIntosh, who signed with the University of West Alabama.
Under Martin’s direction, ECCC’s receiving yards doubled from 912 in 2014, to 1800 in 2015 and the Warriors receiving touchdowns jumped from six in 2014 to 24 in 2016. Martin also helped lead ECCC to an 8-3 record in 2015, it was their first winning season and playoff appearance since 2001. He was also part of the 2015 and 2016 South Division staff of the year.
Prior to ECCC, Martin served as a volunteer assistant at the John Grass Football Camp in June 2014, and worked as an assistant football coach at White Plains High School in Anniston, Alabama in the fall of 2013.
A 2011 graduate of Jacksonville State in Alabama, Martin earned his degree in exercise science and wellness while minoring in coaching. He was a standout receiver for the Gamecocks from 2009-11.
