Prior to Millsaps: Barnes played two seasons at Southwest Mississippi Community College... He helped lead the team in pancake blocks... Was a member of the Dean's List.

High School: He was a letterman at Seminary High School (Seminary, Mississippi)... During his career he was named the: Lineman of the Week, the Player of the Week, and he won the Offseason Award... He led his team in pancake blocks... He was a member of the Honor Roll and the Beta Club.

Personal: Majoring in Psychology.
