Jackson, MS - Millsaps College announced today that Athletic Director
Josh Brooks is leaving the school for a new position at the University of Louisiana-Monroe (ULM). Brooks will become Special Assistant to Dr. Nick Bruno, President of the ULM. Brooks will assume his new role on December 1.
Â
"I would like to thank Dr. Pearigen and Millsaps College for making my time here special. My family was quickly welcomed to Jackson and Millsaps and truly felt a part of this community," Brooks said. "It was a joy to come to work every day on a college campus with such an innovative and forward thinking approach. I am excited to return to ULM, but will always hold a special place in my heart for Millsaps!"
Â
Brooks came to Millsaps in July 2014 after serving as associate athletic director at the University of Georgia. He is returning to his roots at ULM, where he had previously served as a graduate assistant coach and director of football operations.
Â
"Josh has done so much for Millsaps athletics in his brief time at Millsaps, and we are grateful for the energy, passion, and creative thinking that he brought the office of athletic director," said Dr. Robert W. Pearigen, president of Millsaps. "We are sorry to see him go, but we know that he will continue to do great things at ULM and we will work to build on his accomplishments here."
Â
Dr. Pearigen and Dr. Brit Katz, Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students, are working closely with the Athletic Department to identify an interim director until a permanent replacement is hired.
