JACKSON, Miss. (June 30, 2026) — Millsaps College will officially return to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) beginning with the 2027-28 academic year, marking an exciting new chapter for Majors Athletics.
The SCAC announced today that its Presidents Council approved Millsaps' application for membership. The Majors will compete in the Southern Athletic Association through the 2026-27 academic year before officially joining the SCAC in fall 2027.
For Millsaps Athletics, the move represents a return home.
The Majors were members of the conference from 1989 until 2012, winning 22 conference championships while helping establish the league as one of the premier NCAA Division III conferences in the country.
"The SCAC has long been an important part of Millsaps athletics history, and we are excited to renew this longstanding relationship beginning in the fall of 2027," said Director of Athletics Justin LeBlanc.
"Rejoining the SCAC represents an exciting opportunity for the future of Millsaps College and our athletic department as we continue to provide an outstanding academic and athletic experience for our student-athletes."
Today, Millsaps sponsors 19 NCAA Division III varsity sports and is home to nearly 400 student-athletes.
Returning to the SCAC creates new opportunities to strengthen regional competition, renew historic rivalries and continue building championship-caliber programs while remaining committed to the Division III philosophy that places academics at the center of the student-athlete experience.
President Frank Neville said the transition also supports the College's broader strategic vision.
"Joining the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference is a natural fit for Millsaps and an important step in advancing our institutional priorities. This transition reflects our commitment to providing an exceptional student-athlete experience while supporting the goals of our strategic vision."
