Box Score Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Men's Basketball team fell to LeTourneau earlier tonight by a score of 77-70.
The Yellow Jackets bench outscored the Majors bench 28-21, as LeTourneau held off a late comeback rally by Millsaps. Alec Colhoff led in scoring with 21 points by going 6-9 in field goals and 5-8 in three-pointers. Tonight's loss drops the Majors to 0-2 on the young season while the Yellow Jackets improve to 1-1.
After falling behind early in the first half, the Majors stormed back to lead 20-13 with eight minutes left in the first period of play. LeTourneau would answer eight unanswered points to tie the game. A steal and fast break dunk by
Trent Markwith helped the Majors retake the lead, but LeTourneau would again answer.
The Yellow Jackets would never trail again after leading 30-28 at the half. LeTourneau's 18 points from turnovers and eight fast break points helped hold off the Majors second half comeback attempt. Leading 72-66, the Yellow Jackets made the next five of six free throws en route to a 77-70 win.
Alex Gerchow led the Majors in scoring with 13 points while March Robertson finished with 11. Collectively as a team, the Majors were 28-70 from the field and 4-15 for three-pointers.
The Millsaps Men's Basketball Team will look to rebound for a series of road games this weekend in Louisiana. The Majors will travel to Shreveport to face Centenary and Austin for a pair of games this weekend.
Next up for the Majors is a road game against Centenary this Saturday, Nov. 21st at 7 pm.
