Box Score Shreveport, LA – The Millsaps Men's Basketball Team fell on the road earlier tonight against Centenary College in the first game of the SCAC/SAA Challenge.
The Majors 88-55 loss marks the third of the season as Centenary took advantage of a solid defensive night by scoring 17 points off of turnovers. Millsaps did, however, outscore Centenary 12-2 in second chance points and 20-10 in points in the paint. However, after a fast start in the first half, Centenary never looked back to earn their first win of the season.
The Majors traveled to Centenary in Shreveport, Louisiana for the first of two weekend games. Tonight's matchup marked the first weekend road trip for the Majors as they shot 35 percent from the field (19-53) and 37 percent for three-pointers (6-16).
After leading 28-14 midway through the first half, Centenary never looked back to earn the victory. Centenary held off any come from behind rally from the Majors by shooting 45 percent from the field (28-61) and an efficient 54 percent for three-pointers (20-37).
Quin Atkinson led the Majors in scoring with 15 points while
Marc Robertson finished with eight on the night. Robertson also led the Majors in steals with three while
Myles Moore and
Jacob Spence totaled seven and six points for the contest.
The Millsaps Men's Basketball Team will look to regroup and earn their first win of the season tomorrow against Austin. The Majors will face the Roos for the second game of the SCAC/SAA Challenge tomorrow, Nov. 22nd at 3:00 pm.
