LaGrange, GA - The Millsaps Women's Basketball Team earned their sixth win of the season earlier tonight with a victory over LaGrange in Georgia.
Tonight's game continues a six-game road trip for the Majors as they overcame a six point-halftime deficit to earn a 41-38 victory. Senior
Miah Brooks led the Majors with an outstanding game. She earned a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds including a block and a steal.
Both teams kept the game a low scoring contest by playing solid defense throughout the night. Collectively, the Majors and Panthers combined to force 27 total turnovers. Millsaps, however, made the proper halftime adjustments by outscoring LaGrange 24-15 in the second half to earn the win.
Trailing 35-38 late in the fourth quarter, the Majors made several key plays to earn the nonconference win.

Miah Brooks and
Kasi Matthews all made clutch free throws to help the Majors take the lead on a 6-0 run. With less than 15 seconds left,
Kala-Jewel Freeman and
Kasi Matthews both made critical blocks to end any chance of a Panthers comeback.
Tonight's win is the first of 2016 for the Majors as they improve to 6-6 on the year. Both teams were equal for points in the paint with 16 each while Millsaps led in bench points by outscoring the Panthers 6-4. In shooting totals, the Panthers shot 21.8 percent (12-55) from the field and 18.8 percent (3-16) on three-pointers while the Majors finished 27.1 percent (13-48) from the field and 15 percent (3-20) on three pointers.
The Majors will get some time off before finishing the long road trip later next weekend. Next up for Millsaps is a conference matchup in Georgia against Oglethorpe. Tip off against the Stormy Petrels is set for this Friday, Jan. 8th in Atlanta, Georgia at 6:00 pm EST.
