Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Men's Tennis Team earned their third consecutive win in one day by defeating Huntingdon 8-1.
 
Today's contest with the Hawks finished a triple-header for the Majors, as Millsaps won every match by a combined 26-1.  Today's dominant team effort featured a new milestone for Millsaps Men's Tennis as well.
 
"We got everybody a chance to play," Head Tennis Coach Jason Box said.  "I doubt we've ever won three matches in a day, let alone play three matches in a day.  It took a whole team effort and to win all three in one day was a real team accomplishment."
 
In the match with Huntingdon, the Majors faced a great deal of adversity in doubles play.  In the one spot, Alex Centurion and Diego Marti-Vertiz trailed 4-1 early in the match.  The duo, however, responded well by winning the next seven consecutive points to earn an 8-4 victory.
 
The early comeback win set the tone for the remaining doubles matches as the Majors came from behind in the three spot as well.
 
Down 5-3, the duo of Justin Stubblefield and Cameron Doles faced a 5-3, tiebreaker deficit.  The two responded by winning the next four points to win 7-5.  In the two spot for doubles, Emerson Brundick and Cooper Cearley faced a 6-0 deficit and fought back to force a tiebreaker.  Despite the two spot loss, the tenacious Majors set the tone for the remaining singles matches by winning all six.
 
The Majors complete the day with three straight wins and improve to 3-1 on the year.  Millsaps Men's Tennis will look to use the positive momentum with another non-conference home matchup next weekend.
 
Next up for the Majors is a matchup against UT-Tyler next Saturday, Feb. 27^th at 3:00 pm.
