Box Score 2 Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Softball Team completed the weekend of play with a pair of Sunday wins over Huntingdon College and the University of Dallas.
The day was highlighted by a comeback victory over Huntingdon, which featured a walk off single by
Lexi Barron. Following a run-rule, 8-0 win earlier in the day over Dallas, Millsaps sparked a late comeback effort in the second game against Huntingdon. Down 5-3 in the final two innings, the Majors scored one in the sixth and two more in the seventh to finish the weekend undefeated and improve to 6-2 on the year.
In the first game, the Majors only needed five innings to secure the win. After two scoreless frames, the Majors offense started to click in the third inning. Kathryn Romero got things started by reaching first on an error.
From there, the Hawks earned the next two outs via a popup and line out. Despite the two outs, the Majors' offense sparked a seven-run, bottom of the third. Kathryn Romero and
Katelyn Murray scored on a
Rayner LeBlanc two RBI double to center field.
Kaitlyn Casias then scored LeBlanc on an RBI single, which gave the Majors a 3-0 lead.
A walk and pair of singles loaded the bases with
Missy Romero and the top of the order up to bat. Romero delivered with a three RBI single where
Kaitlyn Casias beat a throw home, giving the Majors a 6-0 lead.
Kathryn Romero later singled to score
Missy Romero, which closed out the bottom third scoring with Millsaps leading 7-0. When the smoke settled from the positive third, the Majors totaled seven runs on six hits and two errors – all with two outs on the board.
The Majors added another in the fifth on a

In the second game, the Majors came from behind to win with a seventh inning rally.
Trailing 3-1 after the first frame Huntingdon scored one in the second and two in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. Millsaps earned the first three runs with a
Rayner LeBlanc two RBI single and a
Kaitlyn Casias RBI single to center field.
Down by two runs and needing a rally, starting pitcher
Danielle Faucheux and the Majors' defense forced a three-up, three-down top of the sixth. From there, the Majors began the comeback rally.
A walk followed by a fielder's choice put
Mary Kate Bozeman at first base with two outs.
Sarah Scales was then called to pinch hit to advance Bozeman. Scales delivered with a hard hit double to left center, scoring Bozeman.
Trailing by one run, Faucheux and the Majors' defense made one final stop in the top of the seventh. Specifically, the Majors' defense denied any insurance runs for Huntingdon, as they forced a ground out with runners in scoring position to end the half inning.
With daylight fading, the Majors were down to their final three outs. Designated hitter
Hannah Doggett got things started with a single up the middle, followed by a
Katelyn Murray double to left field. With runners in scoring position, a passed ball scored pinch runner
Cassidy Hendrix and tied the game 5-5.
Rayner LeBlanc then kept a good eye to reach first on a walk. A pop up kept the runners stationary with the bases loaded. From there,
Lexi Barron stepped up to bat for a walk off opportunity.
Barron delivered with a well-placed RBI single to left field, which scored Murray and finished the comeback effort. As Murray crossed home plate the Majors secured their fourth straight win and improved to 6-2 on the year.
