Sewanee, TN - The Millsaps Women's Basketball Team earned their 12th win of the season earlier tonight by defeating Sewanee on the road.
The Majors improved to 6-3 in conference play with tonight's win while the Tigers fall to 3-6. Two Majors scored in double digits while three others scored nine points for the contest as Millsaps continues their final road trip of the regular season. The Majors bench outscored Sewanee 19-7 to win tonight's close contest, which featured six different lead changes and nine ties.
Leading 24-18 at the half, the Majors expanded upon their lead by shooting 52% from the field in the final 20 minutes of play. With 3:11 left in the third period, the Tigers tied the game 32-32 on a pair of Katie Wayne free throws.
From there, both teams exchanged baskets until the Majors made a late, fourth quarter run. With the scored tied 49-49 with 3:15 left in regulation, the Majors took their final lead of the game on an 11-5 run. Millsaps never looked back after the late run to seal the 12th win of the season.
Marissa Taylor led Millsaps with a season high 13 points by going 4-5 from the field, 2-3 on three pointers and 3-4 on free throws.
Kim Klunk also scored in double digits with 10 points and five rebounds.

Miah Brooks each scored nine points while Brooks nearly earned her fifth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds as well. In shooting totals, the Majors finished 20-48 (41.%) from the field and 8-22 (36%) on three pointers while Sewanee went 19-55 (34%) from the field and 5-22 (22%) on three pointers.
The Majors will look to close out the final four-game road trip with a matchup in Danville, Kentucky on Sunday.
