Danville, KY – The Millsaps Women's Basketball Team earned their third straight win with a 45-37 victory over Centre earlier today.
Today's conference road matchup closes out the final road trip of the regular season for the Majors, as they match their second highest win streak on the year.
Kala-Jewel Freeman led the Majors with 13 points while
Miah Brooks nearly earned another double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
Millsaps never trailed in today's contest, as they started the game fast on a 9-2, first quarter run. Centre would trail by four at halftime, but the Majors outscored the Colonels 24-20 in the second half to secure their 13th win of the season.
With the win, Women's Basketball now moves to 13-8 on the year with a conference record of 7-3. Centre falls to 5-16 and 3-7, as the Majors defense held strong throughout today's game.
Millsaps held the Colonels to just 25% from the field and 14% on three pointers for the contest.
Kim Klunk totaled two blocks while
Marissa Taylor,
Kala-Jewel Freeman and
Katie Connor all recorded a steal.
Kala-Jewel Freeman led the Majors by going 5-7 from the field and 3-3 on free throws while Senior
Miah Brooks finished with 4-8 shooting from the field and 1-2 on free throws. In addition to having two blocks,
Kim Klunk also recorded eight rebounds as well (four offensive, four defensive).
In shooting totals, the Majors went 15-45 (33%) from the field and 13-19 on free throws.
The Majors will look to continue the win streak with a final series of regular season home games starting this weekend. First up for the Majors is another matchup against Oglethorpe this Friday.
