Demorest, GA – The Millsaps Men's Tennis Team earned their seventh consecutive win earlier today by defeating Piedmont on the road in Georgia.
 
Friday's contest marks the sixth match in five days, as Men's Tennis improves to 10-3 with the non-conference win.  The Majors began the day leading 2-1 from doubles play and later clinched the match in singles winning five of the six matchups.
 
After a tough 9-8 loss in the doubles one spot, Millsaps responded with convincing 8-3 wins in the two and three spots.  The duos of Emerson Brundick/Cooper Cearley and Cameron Doles/Justin Stubblefield earned the doubles wins, as the Majors led 2-1 heading to singles play.
 
In the singles one spot, Diego Marti-Vertiz got things started with a 6-4, 6-1 win.  Alex Centurion then secured a win at the two spot 6-4, 6-0.  In the three spot, Emerson Brundick earned a hard fought win in three sets.
 
After winning the first set 6-4, Brundick's opponent answered by winning the second.  Brundick, however, responded by winning the third 6-1 to give the Majors a 5-1 lead.
 
With the match clinched, Avinash Ananth and Josh Shearin earned wins at the four and six spots, leaving Millsaps the victor 7-2.
 
Now at 10-3 on the year, the Majors will return home for a few days off before traveling to Birmingham for the conference opener next weekend.
 
Next up for Millsaps Men's Tennis, is a conference opening matchup with Birmingham Southern next Friday, March 18 in Alabama.
