Box Score 2 Conway, AR - The Millsaps Softball Team split a pair of games with Hendrix in Arkansas for the opening day of conference play.
Saturday's double-header opens conference play on the road for the Majors, as they earned a 6-0 win in the first game of the day and fell 5-2 in the second. Junior
Kaitlyn Casias led in RBIs with four on the day while
Cassidy DeNoon improves to 8-5 with the game one win.
In the second game, the Majors fell behind early 5-0. Millsaps earned a pair of runs in the fifth, but eventually fell short 5-2. In the positive fifth,
Megan Murray got things started with a double to right center field.
Rayner LeBlanc was then hit by a pitch to reach first.
From there,
Kaitlyn Casias stepped in for an opportune at-bat. Casias delivered with a two RBI double to left field, scoring Barron and LeBlanc and giving the Majors their first score of the game. In all, the Majors scored two runs on three hits in the positive fifth.
The Warriors, however, closed out the game to eventually secure a 5-2 win. The Warriors' victory split Saturday's double-header, as the Majors earned a 6-0 win earlier in the day.
In the first game,
Rayne Gravat gave the Majors an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single up the middle.
Missy Romero scored on the single by Romero as the Majors led 1-0 through the first frame.
In the second, the bases were loaded for Millsaps on three straight walks. A
Kat Romero RBI single scored Casias, but a double play ended the inning with the Majors leading 2-0.
The third inning proved to be the most positive for Millsaps, as the Majors scored two runs with two outs. Kaitlyn Murray got things started with a single up the middle. From there,
Rayner LeBlanc reached first on a single, leaving the door open for
Kaitlyn Casias.
Casias made the most of the opportune at-bat with a two RBI single scoring Murray and LeBlanc. Casias' single extended the Majors' lead 4-0 and ended the positive third with two runs on three hits for Millsaps.
The Majors earned a pair of insurance runs in the fifth and seventh innings to eventually secure the convincing 6-0 win.
Katelyn Murray scored on a fielding error in the fifth with the bases loaded while some heads up base running by
MK Bozeman gave Millsaps a 6-0 lead in the seventh.
Cassidy DeNoon and the Majors' defense closed out the game in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 12th win of the season for the Majors.

Katelyn Murray and
Rayner LeBlanc all led in hits for the first game with two each.
MK Bozeman,
Sarah Scales and
Lexi Barron also earned a hit each, as the Majors ended the game one victory with six runs on 10 hits and two errors.
Millsaps moves to 12-9 following the day of play, as the Majors and Warriors will play a rubber match tomorrow in Conway to determine a series winner.
Now at 1-1 in conference play, the Millsaps Softball Team will look for their first conference series win tomorrow, March 20th. First pitch from Warrior Softball Field is set for noon.
