Atlanta, GA – The Millsaps Men's Tennis Team fell in a non-conference road matchup to Emory by a score of 9-0.
The Eagles clinched the match winning all six singles matches and later earned the 9-0 victory winning all three doubles matchups. The Eagles, who are the top ranked team in the nation, improve to 12-2 with the win while the Majors drop to 10-5 with the loss.
Emory got things started with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the singles one spot of
Diego Marti-Vertiz. At the two spot,
Alex Centurion fell in a hard fought match 6-2, 7-5. The Eagles then went on to win matchups in the remaining four singles matches to clinch the day of play.
In doubles play, the Eagles earned an 8-3 win at the one spot. The duo of
Josh Shearin and
Cooper Cearley then fell in the two spot 8-0, as Emory closed out the match with an 8-2 win over
Cameron Doles and
Justin Stubblefield in the doubles three spot.
Now at 10-5 the Majors will look to rebound with a non-conference home matchup later in the week. The Millsaps Men's Tennis Team will face Meridian Community College this Thursday, March 24th. Play against the Eagles is set for 3:00 pm.
