Birmingham, AL – The Millsaps Men's Tennis Team dropped their conference-opening match on the road to Birmingham Southern by a score of 6-3.
The Panthers took a 4-2 lead in singles play before clinching the match in doubles. Birmingham Southern picks up their fourth win of the season with the victory on Saturday, while the Majors drop to 10-4.
In singles play,
Emerson Brundick and
Avinash Ananth had the wins for Millsaps, as Brundick earned a three-spot win 7-6, 6-3. Ananth then secured a hard fought win at the four spot. After falling in the first set 4-6, Ananth rallied to win next 7-5 and tiebreaker set 10-6.
Birmingham Southern then clinched the match in doubles play with wins at the one and two spots. The duo of
Cameron Doles and
Justin Stubblefield earned the lone doubles win at the three spot for Millsaps with a hard fought 9-7 victory.
Now at 10-4, the Majors will look to rebound with a non-conference matchup against Emory. Play against the Eagles will begin Sunday, March 20th at 11:00 am.
