Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Men's Tennis team fell to Rhodes by a score of 6-3 in the first conference match of the weekend.
With the loss, the Majors fall to 12-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play while Rhodes improves to 9-8 (4-2). The Lynx took a 2-0 lead in doubles play and later secured the match winning four singles matchups en route to the 6-3 victory.
The Lynx secured a hard-fought win at the doubles one spot against
Diego Marti-Vertiz and
Alex Centurion 9-8(6). Rhodes then earned a win at the two spot 8-5, but the Majors answered at the three spot as the duo of
Davis Plummer and
Cameron Doles solidified an 8-6 victory.
In singles play,
Diego Marti-Vertiz evened the score with an intense victory at the one spot in three sets 6-4, 6-7(4) and 10-4. Rhodes, however, took the lead and clinched the match with wins at the two, three, and four spots.
Davis Plummer secured the third win of the day for Millsaps at the singles six spot with at 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The Majors will look to quickly rebound with another home match tomorrow, April 17th. Millsaps Men's Tennis faces Hendrix for the final match of the regular season. Senior Day play between the Warriors and Majors is set to begin at 11:30 am.
