Murfreesboro, TN – The Millsaps Men's Tennis team advanced in the first day of conference tournament action with a hard-fought, 5-4 win over Rhodes.
 
The fifth seeded Majors secured the upset win over the fourth seeded Lynx in singles play after taking a 2-1 lead in doubles.  The Majors will advance in the SAA Tournament, held at the Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  Next up for Millsaps Men's Tennis is a matchup with Sewanee tomorrow, April 30th at 12:00 pm.
 
The duo of Diego Marti-Vertiz and Alex Centurion got things started at the doubles one spot with an 8-5 win.  Rhodes answered with a win at the two spot, but Davis Plummer and Cameron Doles secured a win at the three spot 8-6 to give Millsaps a 2-1 lead headed to singles play.
 
Diego Marti-Vertiz continued his excellent play with a win at the one spot 6-3, 6-2.  Davis Plummer then earned a convincing win at the three spot 6-1, 6-1 while Josh Shearin closed out the solid contest for Millsaps with a five spot victory 6-4, 6-4.
 
Millsaps Men's Tennis will now advance to face the top seeded Sewanee Tigers tomorrow, April 30th.  Opening play between the Majors and Tigers is set to begin at 12:00 pm from Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
