Men’s Soccer Celebrates Senior Night With Win Over BSC

JACKSON, Miss. – Men's soccer honored their six seniors Alex Bourland (Charleston, S.C.), Dimitri Staursky (Birmingham, Ala.), Luke Walton (Mobile, Ala.), Mikey Domangue (Mandeville, La.), John Overton (Huntsville, Ala.) and Carlos Hoffman (Guatemala City, Guatemala) for their contributions on and off the field.

Millsaps got a much-needed win to secure the sixth seed in the SAA Tournament. The Majors completed the 2-0 shutout victory in dominating fashion Sunday night.

It was an evenly matched game during the first half. Both teams played hard and were unable to generate much offense. The Majors broke through shortly before halftime with a goal from Nathaniel Edwards (Carelston, S.C.) in the 42nd minute to take a lead going into halftime.

Millsaps outplayed the Panthers in the second half, outshooting them 10-4. Brett Judd (Monroe, La) scored the second goal of the match in the 79th minute when Judd received a pass from Jeff Owens (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and found the back of the net to secure the 2-0 win.

"Very happy to send the seniors out with a win on their last home game", said head coach Steve Voltz. "It was a heck of a class, they all got to play a little bit today. At the beginning of the second half, Birmingham really came up strong but we weathered the storm and put the game away. Now we're excited to start the conference tournament".

Millsaps finishes their regular season at 6-7-2 and 2-4-1 in SAA play. The Majors will now prepare for the SAA tournament where they will be the number six seed, they will take on Sewanee in the quarterfinal on Saturday, the start time is to be determined.
