JACKSON, Miss. – With the weather turning to fall-like temperatures and winter sports starting practice it means one thing for the fall sports teams at Millsaps College; it's Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship season. Four Majors teams will be in championship competition this weekend, with men's and women's cross country and men's and women's soccer all competing on Saturday. Volleyball will begin championship play a week later.
Women's cross country will be the first team in action on Saturday when the starting gun for the SAA Championship race will go off at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. The men's team will follow with their race starting at 11:00 a.m. Eastern. Both squads will be running on a course at Nash Farm Battlefield Park in Hampton, Georgia. The women's course will cover 6,000 meters, with the men contesting an 8,000-meter course.
At Noon Central time on Saturday the Millsaps men's soccer team will open SAA Tournament play, traveling to Sewanee to take on the Tigers in a quarterfinal matchup. The winner will move on to a semifinal match on November 3 against the winner of the quarterfinal match between Centre and Birmingham-Southern. For a full men's bracket click

Also at Noon Central time the women's soccer team will take on Centre in Danville, Kentucky in their SAA Tournament quarterfinal. The winner of that game will move on to the semifinal against either Berry or Sewanee, also on Nov. 3. For a complete women's soccer bracket click

Millsaps' volleyball team will not begin SAA Tournament action until Nov. 3 when all eight teams in the tournament will gather at Berry College to begin championship play. First up for the Majors will be a match against Sewanee, starting at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, with the winner going on to face either Berry or Oglethorpe the next day in the semifinals.
