Box Score JACKSON, MISS. -- Millsaps Softball team beats Sewanee in their third matchup of the weekend, 6-0. Millsaps had previously won both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday against the Tigers. The wins from this weekend bring the Majors to 11-5 on the season, 5-0 at home, and 3-0 in conference play with a five game winning streak headed into their spring break tournament.
Millsaps' domination over Sewanee continued in this game, getting out of the first inning with a 5-3 double play. Then, in the bottom of the first, Millsaps got on the board first, with
Kayla Davidson hitting a batter home on a double to left field. In the second inning,
Kaitlyn Casias and
MK Bozeman batted runners in to put Millsaps up 3-0.
Then in the third inning,
Hannah Doggett hit a two RBI single and Casias batted in her second runner of the day to give the Majors a comfortable 6-0 lead going into the fourth inning. From there, the Majors offense lost some of its potency, not scoring anymore runs for the rest of the game but their defense still held strong, with Davidson not allowing a run or hit for the last six innings.
Davidson got the start at pitcher, pitched all seven innings, struck out 11 batters and only gave up one hit. She got the Win and is now 6-2 on the season.
Millsaps will next be in action in their Spring Break Tournament, beginning on March 12th against Webster University.
