CLAREMONT, Fl. (Mar. 12, 2017) - Millsaps Softball shut out both Ripon College and Webster University, 6-0 on the first day of their Spring Break Tournament in Florida.
Millsaps defeated Webster University 6-0 thanks to a strong start. The Majors scored on a double by
Kayla Davidson and a single by
Hannah Doggett in the first inning. Millsaps secured the victory thanks to four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by
Megan Murray, a single by
MK Bozeman, a fielder's choice by
Kat Romero, and a stolen base by
Kayla Davidson.
Davidson went 1-for-3 at the plate as she led the team with two runs batted in. The Majors didn't commit a single error in the field.
Rayner LeBlanc had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.
In the second game, Cassidy DeNoon didn't allow a single run as Millsaps Softball defeated Ripon College 6-0 on Sunday. DeNoon allowed just two hits through seven innings.
Millsaps secured the victory thanks to four runs in the fourth inning. The Majors big inning was driven by a single by
Hannah Doggett and a double by
Kat Romero.
Cassidy DeNoon earned the win for Millsaps. She pitched seven innings, giving up zero runs, two hits, striking out five, and walking zero. Reetz took the loss for Ripon College. She went six innings, surrendering six runs, nine hits, striking out two, and walking one.
Millsaps had nine hits in the game. Romero and Doggett each collected multiple hits for Millsaps College Majors Varsity. Romero led Millsaps with three hits in four at bats. Millsaps College Majors Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field.
