JACKSON, Miss. (Apr. 1, 2017) - Millsaps won both games of their softball doubleheader against Rhodes. Millsaps dominated the first game to win 8-0, in five innings, and the Majors made a huge seventh inning comeback to win the second game 5-4 in 10 innings.
In the first game, the Majors came out strong, all four batters at the top of their lineup got hits. Millsaps opened up with a single by senior
Kat Romero (Lafayette, La.) followed by a double from senior
Kayla Davidson (Slaughter, La.) to drive her home. Senior
Hannah Doggett (Cypress, Texas) was next at bat to get a hit, she singled to drive Davidson home for Millsaps' second run of the day. Junior

Kaitlyn Casias (Cypress, Texas) drove runners in to give the Majors an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Davidson got the start at pitcher, and pitched yet another shutout through five innings. In the fifth inning, Romero and Davidson batted runners in to put the Majors up 8-0 and win the game.
In game two, Millsaps' started much slower than game one, only getting two hits on Rhodes pitcher Allison Long through six innings. Junior
Cassidy DeNoon (Winona, Miss.) got the start at pitcher for the Majors in this one. The Millsaps defense gave up four runs to Rhodes through six innings.
Millsaps entered the seventh inning trailing 4-0. After getting down two outs, the Majors put on an outstanding comeback to tie the game and send it into extra innings. After an error on the throw from Rhodes, Casias reached first and drove in Senior
Rayner LeBlanc (New Iberia, S.C.) for the first run of the inning. Senior
Hannah Dee Smith (Decatur, Miss.) and Sophomore
MK Bozeman (Bossier, La.) then singled to get on base. With the bases loaded, Romero came back up to the plate and hit a big triple to drive all three runners in and complete the comeback and send the game into extra innings.
After both teams shut each other out through two extra innings, the runner placed on 2nd for the international tiebreaker, Dee Smith ran in for a run after an error by Rhodes second base player Jill Healy for the game.
