Maggie Dabadie (Baton Rouge, La.) both picked up a pair of victories for the Majors.
Oglethorpe (11-5, 4-2 SAA) picked up the first point of the day when its No. 2 doubles team took an 8-3 win. At No. 1 Ford and Dabadie, ranked No. 9 in the region, squared the match for Millsaps (13-6, 3-3 SAA) with an 8-5 decision. The Stormy Petrels came back to go up a point going into singles when their No. 3 team held off the Majors duo of junior
Reya Hayek (Greenville, Miss.) and freshman
Natalie Toups (Baton Rouge, La.), 8-6.
Ford again evened the match in her No. 1 singles match, defeating Caroline Johnson, 6-1, 6-1. The back-and-forth action continued as Oglethorpe edged back ahead with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3. Playing at No. 2 Dabadie pulled Millsaps back into a tie with her 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Hannah Dattilo.
Oglethorpe again moved in front when Taylor Cranford took a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4. In the No. 5 match Hayek came back from a first set, 3-6, loss to even the contest up with a second set, 6-2, win. But trailing 4-3 in the third set she was forced to retire and the Stormy Petrels had the deciding fifth point.
Sophomore
Tori Barbier (Metairie, La.) picked up the final point of the day for Millsaps, taking a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win in the No. 6 contest against Delaney Abood.
Millsaps will close out its regular season schedule tomorrow when it travels to Berry College for a 9:00 a.m. Eastern match against the Vikings.
