Major Duo Land on 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® Tennis Teams

Sebastian Gonzalez, Skylar Spinks Exemplified High Standards of Academic Success

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Tennis Teams, announced by the College Sports Communicators, recognized two members of the Millsaps College men's and women's tennis programs on Tuesday.

On the men's side, sophomore Sebastian Gonzalez represented the Majors, while classmate Malakie Smith stood out for the women's team.

Balancing academics and athletics can be challenging. These Millsaps College Scholar-Athletes exemplify the true meaning of hard work, not only in competition on the tennis courts, but also in their academic studies. To make the list, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and must be in the lineup for 75 percent of an institution's days of competition.

Having much to be proud of academically, Gonzalez is a three-time member of Club 40, an honor awarded to scholar-athletes at Millsaps College who have achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA each semester.

Gonzalez has made the President's List on two occasions while also receiving the 2025 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award for his accomplishments inside the classroom.

The San Antonio, Texas, native is currently majoring in Government with minors in Philosophy, Law, and Society. Outside the tennis courts, he holds a dominant 4.0 cumulative GPA.

On campus, he is a member of Civil Discourse in the Government Department. Gonzalez has also worked as an NDS Court Watch while being part of the Phi Eta Sigma.

After graduation, he plans to continue his academic success by attending Law School.

Gonzalez was selected as part of the Southern Athletic Association Men's Tennis Doubles Athlete of the Week on March 3, after a 6–4 win against Belhaven University on Feb. 28 alongside his teammate freshman Brennan Pierce. The duo also defeated MUW 6–1 the following day.

He earned a thrilling victory against his Oglethorpe University opponents, winning 6–3 before claiming a decisive 10–4 tiebreaker on Oct 7.

Smith, a great representative of Millsaps College and the conference, boasted an impressive 3.91 cumulative GPA as a Studio Art major with a minor in Business.

Smith has earned a place on Club 40 twice, the President's List twice, and the Dean's List once.

She has also been named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll once and received the 2025 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award for her outstanding academic performances.

During the 2025–26 season, Spinks won five matches in singles and six in doubles. On Feb. 8, she powered through Huntingdon College with a 6–1, 6–1 victory.
