JACKSON, Miss. (Apr. 8, 2017) – It was a record-setting win for the Millsaps College men's tennis team today as the Majors won for a school record 20
th time this season with their 7-2 win over Centre College in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) action. The victory also kept Millsaps perfect in the SAA standings with a 4-0 mark so far this season.
Millsaps (20-4, 4-0 SAA) took control of things early with a sweep in doubles, with its No. 1 team of junior
Alex Centurion (Portland, Ore.) and sophomore
Davis Plummer (Richardson, Texas), ranked No. 5 in the region, polishing off the sweep with an 8-5 win over Luke Brooks and Logan Henize.

Alex Centurion (Portland, Ore.) took the first singles point for Millsaps, scoring a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Ben Hadlock at No. 2. Playing at No. 3, sophomore
Henry Friedler (New Orleans, La.) then picked up the deciding fifth point of the day for the Majors with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 win over Brooks.

Diego Marti-Vertiz (San Louis Potosi, Mexico), who will graduate in May and was honored after the match for his three years with the team, picked up career singles win No. 38 at No 1 to give Millsaps point number six with a 6-0, 6-3 victory.

Avinash Ananth (Hoover, Ala.) added the other point of the day for Millsaps, scoring a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Adam Slone at No. 4. Centre (5-9, 0-4 SAA) avoided the shutout with wins at Nos. 5 and 6.
Millsaps will play its final home match tomorrow, hosting Sewanee in a battle of undefeated SAA teams starting at 12:00 p.m.
