NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Millsaps College men's tennis team was on the road on Sunday for a match with the Captains of Christopher Newport. CNU came into the match as the #28 team nationally and the #7 team in the Atlantic South Region. The Captains held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play, and went on to take the match by a score of 6-3.

The Majors drop to 3-1 overall on the year. CNU improves to 3-1 on the year as well.  

In doubles play Brandon Beck and Diego Marti-Vertiz fought to get an 8-6 win at the #2 spot, but unfortunately CNU took the other doubles matches to grab an early 2-1 advantage.

At the #1 singles spot Marti-Vertiz had a big win 6-4, 6-2 over David Reed who entered as the #7 player in the region. Davis Plummer secured the other victory for the Majors at #3 singles by beating his opponent 6-3, 6-4.   

Next up, the Majors travel to Richardson, Texas for a pair of matches. They will take on Southwestern on Saturday and UT Dallas on Sunday.
