RICHARDSON, Texas – The Millsaps College men's tennis team wrapped up their Texas trip with a match against UT-Dallas on Sunday morning. The Majors held a 2-1 lead after doubles play, and wrapped up the 6-3 win in singles to improve their record to 5-1 on the year.
Diego Marti-Vertiz and
Brandon Beck remained perfect at #2 doubles with an 8-6 win. After UT-Dallas took the #3 match,
Alex Centurion and
Davis Plummer answered back with an 8-6 win at #1 to give the Majors the 2-1 lead.
In singles play, the Comets struck first with a win at #4 to tie things up at 2-2. Millsaps answered back strong however. Marti-Vertiz took #1 6-3, 6-2, Centurion came back to take #3 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 and
Avinash Ananth clinched the match at #5 with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 win. Plummer scored the sixth point for Millsaps with a 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 win at #2.
Next up, are two more road matches for Millsaps. The Majors travel to Memphis this weekend where they will play Depauw and Christian Brothers University.
