Men’s Tennis Suffers First SAA Setback at #22 Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Millsaps College men's tennis team played their final road SAA match of this season on Saturday when they traveled to take on Sewanee. In a matchup of nationally ranked programs the #22 Tigers got the best of the #40 Majors by a score of 6-3.

Millsaps held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Davis Plummer and Alex Centurion defended their #1 regional ranking with an 8-6 win over the #5 ranked pair of Jack Gray and Alejandro Becker. Josh Shearin and Cooper Cearley picked up the other point for the Majors with their 9-8 win at #3.

Unfortunately, Sewanee rebounded in singles play, winning five of the six matches to capture the 6-3 win.

Jacob Niehaus picked up the point for Millsaps with a 6-4, 7-5 win at #6.

What's Next?
Millsaps will finish out the remainder of their 2018 season at home. Next up is a pair of weekend SAA matches at Coach Montgomery Courts. The Majors will host Berry on Saturday and Oglethorpe on Sunday.
