JACKSON, Miss. – It was the final match of the 2018 regular season for the Millsaps College men's tennis team on Sunday. The Majors capped off their Senior Day celebration with a 9-0 win over Hendrix College.

The win improves the Millsaps record to 15-6 overall on the year, and 6-1 in the SAA. Hendrix falls to 0-12 overall and 0-7 in conference play.  

The Majors grabbed the early momentum in doubles play. Diego Marti-Vertiz / Brandon Beck took #1 by an 8-1 score. Josh Shearin / Cooper Cearley picked up an identical 8-1 win at #2, and Avinash Ananth / Cameron Doles closed out doubles with an 8-4 win at #3.

As the match moved into singles competition Millsaps quickly put the finishing touches on their win.

Beck was first with a quick 6-1, 6-0 win at #4. Doles scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at #5. Ananth picked up his second win of the afternoon by a score of 6-1, 6-1 at #2.

Jacob Niehaus defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #3. Jermon Drake won #6 6-0, 6-2 and Alex Centurion polished off the sweep with a 6-5, 6-1 win at #1.

What's Next?
Today marks the end of the 2018 regular season for the Majors. Millsaps will be the #2 seed in the SAA Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tennessee when it gets underway this week.

The Majors take on #7 seed Oglethorpe University in the quarterfinal round on Thursday.
