CONWAY, Ark. – The Millsaps softball team wrapped up their regular season with a road loss at the hands of Hendrix College Sunday afternoon. Hendrix scored eight runs in the 5th and 6th innings to pull away as the Majors fell 9-1 in six innings.
Millsaps finishes the season 17-17 overall and 5-12 in the SAA, while Hendrix closes the year with a 19-13 record and 10-7 in the conference.
With Hendrix on top 1-0, Millsaps tied things up with two outs in the top of the 5th.
Kendall Carder roped a triple and
Jordan Lipari drove her in with a single to make it a 1-1 ball game heading into the bottom of the 5th.
The Warriors began to pull away in the home half of the 5th when three runs crossed the plate on a two-RBI double and an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1. Five more runs scored in the 6th to make it 9-1 and put the run-rule in place, ending the game.
Millsaps will now prepare for the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. beginning on Thursday. The Majors are the No. 6 seed and will take on Hendrix in the first round at 12:00pm .
