CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Opening Southern Athletic Association tournament play on Thursday afternoon, the No. 6 seeded Millsaps softball team dropped its opening round game 8-0 in five innings to No. 3 seeded Hendrix.
Hendrix struck for three in the 1st and did not let up for the rest of the game. Three runs came across in the inning when Jordan Mallard drove in two runners with a triple to right center. Later in the inning, an error allowed Mallard to score from third to make it a 3-0 Warrior lead.
One more crossed the plate for Hendrix in the 2nd on Bryanna Carlisle's double to left-center that scored Aubrey Brink to extend the lead to 4-0.
Hendrix put the run-rule in place in the 4th when a runner crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly and Nikki Sanders hit a three-RBI double to make it 8-0.
Karley Williams threw 2.1 innings and did not allow an earned run. Millsaps had its opportunities stranding seven runners on base.
Millsaps continues the conference tournament on Friday against Sewanee in an elimination game at 1:00pm CT at Jim Frost Stadium in Chattanooga.
