CONWAY, Ark. – The Millsaps softball team traveled to Hendrix to begin their final regular season series of the season and lost two close contests to the Warriors on Saturday. The Majors dropped both games in on walk off's, 4-3 and 1-0 in ten innings.
After the losses, Millsaps is now 17-16 on the season and 5-11 in the SAA, while Hendrix improves to 18-13 overall and 9-7 in conference play.
Game 1:
All three runs for the Majors came across in the 3rd inning. With
MK Bozeman on first and
Leslie Norris on second,
Kendall Carder laced a double to right-center to bring across both runners.
Jordan Lipari followed that with a single to score Carder.
One run came across for Hendrix in the 3rd, 4th and 5th to make it a 3-3 game heading into the bottom of the 7th.
The Warriors started the inning with back-to-back singles to put the winning run on second. An error allowed that run to score as Hendrix won in walk off fashion.
Game 2:
It took until the 10th inning for either side to score, and again the Majors came out on the wrong end in game two.
Cassidy DeNoon put together one of her best performances of the season, she had a no hitter going through 6.2 innings. DeNoon went 9.1 innings, gave up just two hits and no earned runs while striking out four batters.
MK Bozeman had a solid day offensively, going 3-3 at the plate with two walks and two stolen bases.
Hendrix won in the bottom of the 10th when the runner placed on second stole third and was driven in on a sacrifice fly.
Millsaps and Hendrix conclude the regular season on Sunday at 12:00pm in Conway, Ark.
