For the first time in 2019, the Millsaps women's basketball team will play away from the Hangar Dome as they head to Arkansas and Tennessee for a pair of road contests. They'll square off with Hendrix at 6pm on Friday night before heading to Memphis to take on Rhodes at 1pm Sunday.
Last Time Out
For the first time since the 2014-15 season, the Majors have started their SAA slate 3-0. They started 2019 with a dominant 38-point win over Birmingham Southern on New Years Day. Against Berry, the Vikings were able to pull ahead early, by as many as 23, but the Majors rallied for the win before taking out perennial conference powerhouse Oglethorpe on Sunday, to stay undefeated and take sole possession of first place in the SAA.
Dia Fortenberry led the way for the Majors as she averaged 19.0 ppg., 7.7 rpg. and came away with 12 steals in three games. For her efforts, she was named the
SAA Player of the Week for the first time this year.
Millicent Butler also had a big week, averaging 15.0 ppg. Because of their performances, Millsaps is now the only team in the SAA to have three players in the top-10 of scoring: Fortenberry (6
th-12.9 ppg),
Morgan McCrea (8
th-12.1 ppg) and Butler (10
th-10.9 ppg).
Friday
Hendrix College Warriors (9-5, 2-1 SAA) 6:00 PM, Conway, Ark.
Hendrix finished their non-conference schedule at a solid 7-4, before dropping their SAA opener to Rhodes. They rebounded with back-to-back wins over Sewanee and Centre, the latter coming in overtime.
Key Players for Hendrix
- Vinessa Daniel-The sophomore leads the SAA in scoring at 18.3 ppg and has scored in double figures in all but two of the Warriors contests. She started the season with monster games of 31 and 38 pts. She also ranks 5thin the conference with 6.7 rpg.
- Jayla King-King has been a force off the Warriors bench, making an appearance in all 14 games. She's second on the team with 10.7 ppg, while ranking 10thin the conference. Her 6.7 rpg are tied with Daniel for the team lead and 5thin the SAA.
The Majors and Warriors split their 2017-18 contests, with each team winning at home.

Sunday
Rhodes College Lynx (9-5, 2-1 SAA) 1:00 PM, Memphis, Tenn.
The Lynx started out the season 6-0 before dropping four straight. They have recovered to win three of their last four, dropping a road game to Centre to keep them at 2-1 in the SAA.
Key Players for Rhodes
- Allie Young-Young is the leading scorer for the Lynx, contributing 14.4 ppg, which also puts her third in the SAA. Her 6.9 rpg is fourth in the conference and speaks to her post play, where she is a strong presence. She also has 13 steals and 16 blocks on the year. She also leads the conference in FG pct, shooting a lights-out 55.1% from the field.
- Alyssa Owens and Lindsey Whiteside-The duo combines for more than 20 ppg for Rhodes, chipping in 10.6 and 10.2 ppg, respectively. They have also combined to knock down 41 threes, shooting 36% in the process.
The Majors and Lynx met twice last season, with Rhodes taking down Millsaps both times.
