BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- On Saturday, the Millsaps College women's basketball team closed out the Richard Dardenne Memorial Classic hosted by Birmingham Southern College. The Majors took on the Agnes Scott College. 

After a slow start, the Majors dominated the middle portion of the game to pick up a 61-28 win. 

Millsaps improves to 2-1 overall while Agnes Scott falls to 0-4.

How It Happened
Both sides struggled offensively in the opening quarter. After 10 minutes of play Millsaps held a 7-3 lead. 

However, the Majors started to open things up in the second period. The defense held Agnes Scott to just five points, while on offense Millsaps scored 12 of their 15 points inside the paint to take a 22-8 lead at halftime. 

The third quarter was all Majors as well. Again the defense held the Scotties to single digits with six points, and the offense turned things up scoring 24 points to push their lead out to 46-14.

Millsaps emptied the bench in the fourth quarter, as 16 different players saw playing time for the Majors. When the final buzzer sounded the Majors picked up the 61-28 win.

Notables
Dia Fortenberry led all scorers with 15 points. She was a force on the defensive end of the floor for the Majors as well making a team-high seven steals. 

It was a balanced effort all evening long for Millsaps as 12 different players scored at least two points. 

The Majors limited Agnes Scott to just 24.4% shooting from the field, and also forced 29 turnovers that led to 24 points on the other end.

Millsaps will head to Louisiana for a matchup at Centenary College, Tuesday night's tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
