Womens Basketball Picks up Bounce Back Win over LeTourneau

JACKSON, Miss. -- On Sunday, the Millsaps College women's basketball team returned to the Hangar Dome for a non-conference game against the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets.

It was a back and forth game for most of the afternoon, but a late fourth quarter run by the Majors helped propel Millsaps to the 67-61 win.

The victory pushes the Majors to 4-2 overall this year while the Yellowjackets fall to 1-3.

How It Happened
LeTourneau jumped out to an early 15-11 lead after the first quarter. They had nearly double the offensive opportunities which allowed them to grab the four point advantage.

The Majors battled back in the second quarter, this time outscoring the Yellowjackets 15-11 to tie things up at halftime. A Megan Donaldson three-pointer and free throw from Dia Fortenberry made it a 26-26 game at the break.

LeTourneau's defense allowed them to score 12 points off of turnovers in the third quarter which put the Yellowjackets ahead 42-38 heading into the final ten minutes of play.

Millsaps opened up the final period by quickly closing that gap with a pair of free throws from Fortenberry and a Devan Caldwell layup.

With 4:41 left to play in the game, Donaldson connected on another shot from beyond the three-point arc and the Majors never trailed again.

Millsaps finished the night converting on six of their last eight opportunities from the free throw line to close out the 67-61 win.

Notables
Fortenberry topped 20 points for the second straight game and finished with a game-high 24. Donaldson was the only other Major who scored double-digits, finishing with 11 points, including 3-5 from three-point territory.

Andrea Rayford pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Taelor Manning dished out four assists.

What's Next?
Millsaps will be back in action this weekend with another pair of games at the Hangar Dome. First up is a contest with Austin College. Saturday's tip off is set for 3:00 p.m.
