JACKSON, Miss. -- On Saturday, the Millsaps College women's basketball team welcomed the 'Roos of Austin College to the Hangar Dome for a non-conference game.
The Majors found themselves down by two points after the first quarter, but struggled on the offensive end in the second quarter as Austin built a 32-19 lead at halftime.
The 'Roos went on to outscore Millsaps in each of the final two quarters to pull away with a 67-38 win.
The loss drops the Majors to 4-3 overall this year while the 'Roos improve to 3-0.
How It Happened
Austin jumped out to a five point lead on the first handful of possessions of the game, but the Majors quickly regrouped and eventually tied the game at 7-7 on a
Taelor Manning layup.
After the 'Roos converted on their offensive end,
Anna Wilson answered with her second three-pointer of the game to give Millsaps their first lead at 10-9.
The teams continued to trade baskets for the rest of the quarter with Austin College holding a 15-13 lead after the first ten minutes.
Unfortunately, Millsaps struggled on offense in the second quarter and the 'Roos stretched their lead to 32-19 at halftime.
The second half saw the Majors improve their offense, but still were unable to comeback as Austin pulled away for a 67-38 win.
Notables
Wilson finished as the leading scorer for the Majors with 12 points.
Dia Fortenberry pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds. She also tied Manning for the lead in assists with 2.

Millsaps returns to the Hangar Dome tomorrow afternoon for a match-up against Louisiana College. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m.
