MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- On Sunday, the Millsaps College women's basketball team closed out the 2019 calendar year with their final non-conference game of the regular season. The Majors traveled to Alabama to take on the Huntingdon College Hawks.

Millsaps built up a double digit lead at halftime, and held that advantage throughout the second half to pick up the 60-51 win.

The Majors improve to 6-6 overall on the year while the Hawks fall to 4-8.

How It Happened
Millsaps came out of the gate at a high level scoring 18 points in the opening quarter. On the defensive end they limited Huntingdon to just 25% shooting from the field to help capture an 18-11 lead. 

The second quarter saw the Majors outscore the Hawks by three points to carry a 28-18 lead to the halftime locker room. 

Huntingdon battled back in the third quarter, actually outscoring Millsaps by three points, but a strong fourth quarter allowed Millsaps to pick up a 60-51 win.

Notables
Dia Fortenberry led all scorers with 18 points to finish in double-digits for the 11th time this season. Taelor Manning added 10 points on 5-10 shooting from the field. Both Fortenberry and Manning pulled down 8 rebounds. 

Manning dished out a season-high 9 assists to help propel Millsaps to the win.

What's Next?
Millsaps now shifts their focus solely to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play. The Majors return home to host Sewanee and Centre this weekend.
