Softball Falls in Final Game at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky.—Not a great way to start a week.

After having games moved around due to weather, Millsaps and Centre wrapped up their three-game series Monday, with Centre scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth to grab a 7-5 win over the Majors.

How It Happened

Just like game two, Millsaps got on the board in the first, thanks to some defensive miscues by Centre. Jordan Lipari led off reaching first and advancing to second on an error. Leslie Norris singled Lipari to third, who then scored on another Centre error, giving Millsaps a 1-0 lead.

That lead would be short lived, however, as the Colonels answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and second to take a 4-1 lead off starter Karley Williams

Millsaps started to climb back into the game in the fourth after Katelyn Norse led off with a double, Kendall Carder reached on a single, putting Norse on third followed by RBI by Hailey Pearson and Mackenzie Johnson to cut the lead to 4-3.

The Majors would take the lead in the fifth after the first three batters reached base, loading the bases. Ty Bergeron was hit by a pitch, tying the game, before a wild pitch brought home another run, giving Millsaps a 5-4 lead. Unfortunately, that was all the Majors could muster in the inning as the next three batters struck out swinging to keep the lead at one.

Centre tied the game at five in the bottom of the fifth after a single and a double plated a run. Back-to-back singles, followed by a double would plate two more in the sixth, putting Centre ahead 7-5, which proved to be the winning runs.

Williams picked up the loss for the Majors, moving her to 3-7 on the season.

Norris and Karlie Galloway each had multiple hits for the Majors while Bergeron, Pearson and Johnson each drove in a run.
