MOUNT BERRY, Ga.—It was the middle innings.
After keeping the game close against Berry through the first three innings, Millsaps gave up six runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth to drop the series finale to the Vikings, 9-1.
How It Happened
Berry got ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second off Majors starter
Shauna Blady. After Blady recorded an out, the next two batters singled and doubled, driving in a run.
Millsaps was able to tie the game in the top of the third when
Jordan Lipari walked, moved to second on
Mackenzie Johnson's single and then took third on
Lindsey Osbon's fielder's choice. Lipari came around to score on a passed ball, knotting things at one apiece.
Berry responded with two of their own in the third, re-taking the lead and setting up their big middle innings.
The Majors had runners on in each of the last three innings but couldn't push anyone across to extend the game.
Offensively, Millsaps was led by Johnson,
Brooklyn Wascom and
Kaylee White, who each had a hit.
What's Next
Millsaps will continue their SAA road slate with a visit to #20 Birmingham-Southern for a three-game series. They'll play a doubleheader Saturday before wrapping up on Sunday. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for noon.
