JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College women's basketball team returned to the Hangar Dome on Sunday for another Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest.

The Majors played host to the Vikings of Berry College.

Millsaps got off to a hot start, scoring the game's first nine points, and in the end Berry was never able to recover as the Majors picked up the 56-31 win.

With the victory Millsaps improves to 9-11 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Vikings fall to 10-10 overall and 4-5 in the SAA.

How It Happened
The Majors opened up play on a 9-0 run, holding Berry scoreless for the first six minutes of the game.

The Vikings fought back however, and split a pair of free throws to cut the Millsaps lead to 10-8 at the end of the first quarter. 

Despite outshooting Berry 44.4% to 16.7%, the Majors were outscored 9-8 in the second period to make it an 18-17 game at halftime. 

The second half was all Millsaps. 

After falling behind early in the third quarter, the Majors held Berry scoreless for the final 7:30 of the period. Megan Donaldson buried a three-pointer and Devan Caldwell converted on an and-one opportunity to put Millsaps on top 33-25 at the close of the third.

The Majors were able to run away from the Vikings in the fourth, making four of their last five free throw attempts to help secure the 56-31 win.

Notables
Anna Wilson finished with 12 points, including shooting 6-8 from the free throw line to lead the Millsaps offense. Dia Fortenberry added 11 points and Caldwell scored 10 to round out the double-digits scorers for the Majors. 

Andrea Rayford led the way with 8 rebounds, while Taelor Manning made her mark on the defensive end of the floor with 3 steals.

What's Next?
Millsaps will be on the road this weekend with a trip to Sewanee and Centre. First up is Friday night's contest against the Tigers. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m.
