ATLANTA (Dec. 9, 2020) – On December 7, the Southern Athletic Association's Council of Presidents
voted unanimously to return to play in January 2021.

Seven of the eight conference institutions will participate in fall and winter sports starting with men and
women's basketball beginning the weekend of January 15-17. Sewanee has opted out of playing a traditional
conference schedule and will only play home games for fall and winter sports.

Additionally, the Council of Presidents indicated the intention to have a full, traditional conference season
for all spring sports.

This decision was based on all medical information consistent with federal and state public health authorities,
the NCAA, and institutional guidelines. Along with the approved schedules, the SAA will continue to
monitor the COVID-19 pandemic moving forward.

Currently, an SAA COVID-19 Task Force committee continues to create consistent procedures and polices
based on national and local health guidelines, social distancing, masking, contact tracing, and coronavirus
testing.
