DANVILLE, Ky. — The Millsaps College men's and women's track and field programs shattered seven records and posted several other high marks in the school record books at the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet was held inside Champions Hall and hosted by Centre College, Friday and Saturday.
Junior
Greer Hernandez highlighted the meet for the Majors with two indoor program records and an All-SAA Honorable Mention showing in the 3000 meters. Other record setters included freshman
Benjamin Sylve, classmate
Frederick Fluker Jr. as well as senior
Eleanor Scott and junior
Fiona Selders.
The Majors also added additional top-five student-athletes in the program record book by freshman
Mason Castleberry, sophomore
Vivian Jordan, senior
Amari Jackson-Wright, and freshman
Katie Brown.
Hernandez ran a sprint to the finish and placed third in the 3000 meters, with a blistering time of 8 minutes, 51.19 seconds. He also shattered the 5000-meter mark for indoors to open the running events on Friday. Hernandez placed just outside of the podium in fourth with another great time of 15:23.86.
Sylve continued the distance success by setting a new program standard in the 800 meters. He placed 14th with a time of 2:02.87.
The other men's record setter, Fluker Jr., cleared the 60-meter hurdles in 9.02 seconds. He bettered his time by nearly a second from earlier in the season, placing eighth.
Selders had an outstanding meet for the sprinters on the women's team. She bettered her time in the 60-meter dash by cruising home in 7.82 in the prelims. Selders advanced to the finals, where she posted a sixth-place showing in 7.94.
Her meet also saw her become the second-fastest student-athlete in program history in the 400 meters as well as the third swiftest in the 200 meters. She ran 1:04.86 for 17th in the 400, and 26.89 for 10th in the 200.
The final record breaker in the Majors' terrific meet was Scott. She secured the seventh-place spot in the triple jump with a distance of 10.68 meters (35 feet-0.5 inches).
A quartet of Millsaps student-athletes also became top-five indoor track and field standouts. Castleberry now stands as the third fastest person in the 5000 meters (16:59.60; 24th). Jordan is now fifth in both the shot put (9.11 meters; 18th) and weight throw (9.45 meters; 20th). Teammate Jackson-Wright is now fourth in the shot put with a mark of 9.74 meters after placing 16th.
Lastly, Brown tied her indoor career-best height in the high jump. She continues to rank as the fifth ranked Millsaps student-athlete after clearing the bar at 1.45 meters (4 feet-9 inches), claiming 10th at the championship.

Millsaps will next compete and open the outdoor track and field season at the Mississippi College Spring Classic on Saturday, March 7, beginning at 8 a.m. in nearby Clinton, Miss.
