JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College softball team opened up their own invitational tournament on Friday night by hosting the Crusaders of the University of Dallas.

UD opened up the scoring, and then held off a late rally by the Majors to pick up the 4-3 win. 

The loss drops Millsaps to 3-4 overall on the season.

How It Happened
The Crusaders got a RBI single to plate a run in the top of the 1st and take a 1-0 lead. 

The Majors fought right back however, as Lindsey Osbon hit a sacrifice fly to score Leslie Norris in the bottom half of the inning and tie the game at 1-1. 

Unfortunately, UD responded with two runs in the top of the 3rd to move ahead 3-1. 

Millsaps got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning as Katelyn Norse brought home Osbon, who reached on a two-out triple, with a RBI single. 

The Majors scored again in the bottom of the 6th. This time it was Cameron Trussell who scored on a Gia Zeringue double.

Unfortunately, Dallas was able to escape with 6th without further damage, and held off Millsaps in the 7th to secure the 4-3 win. 

Key Contributors
Norris and Zeringue both had a pair of hits for the Majors.

On the mound, Hannah Derouen pitched outstanding over the final three innings. Helped by strong defense behind her, she scattered six hits and did not allow a run.

What's Next?
The Majors return to the Millsaps Softball Complex tomorrow evening for a doubleheader. Millsaps will play LaGrange College at 4:30 p.m., with a nightcap against the University of Dallas to follow.
