JACKSON, Miss. — On Tuesday afternoon, the Millsaps College softball team made the short drive down Riverside Drive for the first matchup of the season against rival Belhaven University.
The host Blazers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning, and eventually were able to close out an 8-0 victory in 6 innings.
The loss drops the Majors to 6-5 overall on the season.
How It Happened
After Millsaps went down in order in the top of the 1st inning, Belhaven put up four runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning.
The Blazers added a run in the 3rd inning to make it a 5-0 game. They then scored a pair of runs in the 4th before ending the game with one run in the bottom of the 6th.

Brooklyn Wascom each had a hit on the afternoon for Millsaps.
What's Next
The Majors now turn their attention to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) portion of their schedule. Millsaps travels to Hendrix College this weekend for a three-game series. Play gets underway with a doubleheader on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
