ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Millsaps College women's tennis team opened up their annual spring break trip by dominating the University of St. Francis (IL) Fighting Saints on Sunday.
Millsaps swept all three doubles' matches to earn the single point, and won five of the six singles' matches for a 6-1 victory.
The win improves the Majors' record to 3-2 on the season.
How It Happened
The teams of
Grace Gaskins /
Camille Fremaux and
Marissa Brown / Jillian Sandoz scored identical 6-3 wins at doubles' No. 1 and No. 2.
Meanwhile,
Isabella Hutchins /
Camille Landry earned a hard-fought 7-6 win at No. 3 to give the Majors the early 1-0 lead.
In singles play,
Morgan Jenkins, Amelia Christy and
Sarah Hayek breezed to wins at the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 spots respectively.
Sandoz came back from a first set loss to score the 2-6, 7-6, 10-5 win at No. 2, and
Maggie Dabadie picked up a 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 win at singles No. 1.
The Panthers lone point came in three sets at singles' No. 4.
What's Next?
Millsaps will play a pair of matches tomorrow. The Majors open up with Dickinson College at 9:00 a.m. CT before closing the day at 5:30 p.m. CT against NCAA Division I Providence College.
